Objectives:

Help  Massage Therapists understand the uniqueness of their position in the Health Services and Alternative Health Services World.

Go over the Code of Ethics, as defined by the NCBTMB, and relate it to the modern practitioner.

Frankly discuss cross gender massage, boundaries and what it means to be a “nurturer” and discuss the various ways men and women are perceived by clients, what baggage we bring to the table and  how to overcome those perceptions through comprehensive “informed consent” and personal introspection.

Discuss  the health services provider's relationship to business, money and nurturing.
Review the law and various "Codes of Ethics" as provided by the AMTA, ABMP and the NCBTMB.

Practice Building 1 & 2:

The purpose of these classes are to help the self-employed massage therapist, through an organized and workable business plan.  The course specifically addresses the following areas:

  • General summary of the business idea
  • Specific company summary
  • Thoughts on products & services
  • A Description, market analysis, strategy and implementation, sales strategy, strategic alliances, management summary and financial plan.  These classes are hard work.  Practice Building 1 (8 CE Hours) is a prerequisite to Practice Building 2 (24 CE Hours).

If the Health Services Provider pays attention to the business discussions in class and follows the Business Plan Outline, the likelihood of business failure will be reduced and the probability of significant success greater.  Following the model is an excellent way to manage risk.  Remember, building a business requires thought and, most importantly, service to customers.
