Statement About Our "CODE OF ETHICS"
Below are the minumum
standards set by Pro-Actif Spa Systems International, LLC for its
Practitioners, Master Trainers, and other representatives. If
you find that anyone you are doing business with is short of these
minumum standards please let us know at lypossage@aol.com or by calling 860.346.1156. The
below standards are defined based on two Codes of Ethics. One
for Practitioners and one for Master Trainers. It should also
be noted that all Lypotherapists follow strict ethical
standards and further have signed an Intellectual Property
Agreement. This agreement insures that you, the Lypossage
client, are receiving your treatment from a Therapist that not only
follows a code of ethics but also must have permission from
Pro-Actif Spa Systems International, LLC to advertise in certian
ways. If they don't advertise or use the Lypossage name properly
their right to use the Lypossage name can be withdrawn. The
agreements that Lypotherapists and Trainers sign are listed
below. (It is possible that these agreements will be
updated or improved from time to time. When that happens
Pro-Actif Spa Systems International, LLC will update as quickly as
possible).
Practitioner & Trainer Draping Policy and
Code of Ethics
·
Draping: Draping is the
practice of covering the massage client’s body.
It is used for modesty. Common draping material
is full sheets or towels. The only body parts
that are “un-draped” (uncovered) are those body parts being worked
on. While many clients are comfortable fully
disrobed underneath the draping material, some clients prefer to
wear underpants. Many Lypossage clients recieve treatments in their
underwear only, without draping sheets- this, of course, is the
minumum draping recommended. Whatever makes “the
client” feel the most comfortable and secure is what should be
done. Remember, the client should always be in
control. If it doesn’t feel right- encourage
them to say something!
·
Code of
Ethics: In this instance the
phrase “Code of Ethics” refers to the definitions of ethical
behavior by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic
Massage and Bodywork. This code of ethics states
that massage therapists will:
1.
Have a sincere commitment to
provide the highest quality of care to those that seek their
professional services.
2.
Represent their qualifications
honestly, including education and professional affiliations, and
provide only those services, which they are qualified to
perform.
3.
Accurately inform clients, other
health care professionals, and the public of the scope and
limitations of their discipline.
4.
Acknowledge limitations of and
contradications for massage and bodywork and refer clients to
appropriate health professionals.
5.
Provide treatment only where there
is reasonable expectation that it will be advantageous to the
client.
6.
Consistently maintain and improve
professional knowledge and competence, striving for professional
excellence through regular assessment of personal and professional
strengths and weaknesses and through continuing education
training.
7.
Conduct their business and
professional activities with honesty and integrity, and respect the
inherent worth of all persons.
8.
Refuse to unjustly discriminate
against clients or other ethical health
professionals.
9.
Safeguard the confidentiality of
all client information, unless disclosure is required by law, court
order, or absolutely necessary for the protection of the
public.
10. Respect the client's right to treatment with
informed and voluntary consent. The NCTMB
(nationally certified practitioner) will obtain and record the
informed consent of the client, or client’s advocate, before
providing treatment. This consent may be written
or verbal.
11. Respect the client’s right to refuse, modify,
or terminate treatment regardless of prior consent
given.
12. Provide draping and treatment in a way that
ensures the safety, comfort and privacy of the
client.
13. Exercise the right to refuse to treat any
person or part of the body for just and reasonable
cause.
14. Refrain, under all circumstances, from
initiating or engaging in any sexual conduct, sexual activities, or
sexualizing behavior involving a client, even if the client tries
to sexualize the relationship.
15. Avoid any interest, activity, or influence
which might be in conflict with the practitioner’s obligation to
act in the best interests of the profession. Respect the client’s
boundaries with regard to privacy, disclosure, exposure, emotional
expression, beliefs, and the client’s reasonable expectations of
professional behavior. Practitioners will
respect the client’s autonomy.
16. Refuse any gifts or benefits, which are
intended to influence a referral, decision, or treatment that are
purely for personal gain and not for the good of the
client.
17. Follow all policies, procedures, guidelines,
regulations, codes and requirements promulgated by the National
Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and
Bodywork.
RESPECTING THE CLIENT
It is important to be respectful and sensitive to
your Lypossageä
Client. The
client is giving the gift of
vulnerability to the Lypossageä
Practitioner. The client needs to be treated with compassion, intuition, caring and respect. The
Lypossageä
client is the Queen of the world when she is in the treatment
room. It is important that we relay to the client that while she is
giving her vulnerability to the practitioner– the practitioner must
know that the client can withdraw that at any time. The customer is
the boss of the treatment room
environment.
